Teacher Training Details and Guidelines
Namaste and welcome to the Kundalini Yoga Foundational 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training!

We are deeply honored that you chose to join in this training and are looking forward to sharing in this month of grounded transformation with you.

On this page, you will find many important details about the training, we will go over all of these details on day one when we talk about the logistics of training, so this information is more for those of you who like to get a headstart on things :) If you want, you can read through to get a feeling for the logistical aspects of training. Feel free to email us about any questions that arise.

Arrival and Schedule Details:
We will be spending the month in Studio Wayan, which is the upper studio at the back entrance of the Yoga Barn (off of Jl Hanuman/Jl Pengosekan).

Please arrive before 9:00am on July 1st, find a space to relax and meet some of your fellow teacher trainees on the deck area below the studio.

We will not have morning Sadhana the first day as there will be a lot of logistical details to cover; we encourage you to practice on your own in the morning and come well nourished and prepared to sit, listen, and share.

General Schedule:
The schedule will vary slightly through the training, but please make note of the general daily schedule below:

Regarding Attendance, Assessment, and Yoga Alliance Certification:

In order to be eligible for Yoga Alliance Certification you must successfully complete all teacher training requirements.

Full attendance and punctuality are essential. Missing more than 1–2 segments due to illness or non-participation may affect your eligibility for certification, as per Yoga Alliance standards.
This month will be intensive and transformative. Support yourself by eating well, staying hydrated, getting enough rest, and caring for your overall well-being.
On your half-days off, you may be tempted to explore—but we strongly encourage you to use that time for deep rest and self-care. These moments are invaluable for integration, reflection, and renewal.
While friendships will naturally form, remember: this training is ultimately for you and your inner journey. Minimize external distractions and use this time wisely.

Evaluations: There will be two types of evaluation during the course; a written test, and a practicum (practice teaching). The test is intended to give you an idea of whether or not you need to increase the intensity of your study and class participation, as well as show the teachers how well they are sharing the information with you.

The practicum will take place in the final three days of the course. Each student will teach a complete 1 hour class to a small group of your classmates, followed by constructive feedback from the teachers.

We reserve the right to certify only students who pass the practicum for safe teaching and demonstrate an ability to facilitate and communicate the yogic teachings effectively with a group in a class setting. We want you all to succeed; if you put in the effort we will work with you to help make this happen.

** Do not worry if English is not your primary language. Please bring your live translation app and headphones to all lectures in case you need clarification. Throughout the course you will learn the basic terminology for guiding beautiful, holistic, and balanced Kundalini Yoga classes. When my teacher, Vishva-ji, was asked to teach in Italy, he learned only three Italian words: Inspiro, Expiro, and Bellissimo! (Inhale, Exhale, Beautiful!) He taught inspiring, holistic classes using mainly his body language, demonstrations, and positive energy.

Regarding Studio and Training Etiquette:

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to class so that the room is settled and ready to practice at 7am. Be on time for all classes and lectures.
  • Enter the room and lay your mat and props down gently and quietly; when leaving the room, the same applies.
  • Refrain from wearing any strong scents as there may be allergies (ex. perfume, scented deodorants, overly strong laundry detergents. etc.)
  • No cellphones or distraction technology in the studio during morning Sadhana. If your cellphone is in your bag, ensure that it is turned off. Cellphones will be permitted during lectures for use as recording devices and for translation purposes only. (ie. No texting or surfing the web).

Clothing Guidelines for Training
In many traditional yoga lineages, including Kundalini, practitioners often wear white clothing to help cultivate and reflect a Sattvic (pure, calm, and uplifting) state of being. While we are not in an ashram, we aim to honor this tradition as much as possible.

We kindly ask that you wear simple, modest, and light or white-colored clothing, especially during the morning practice sessions.
This is not about fashion—it’s about creating a shared energetic field that supports the depth of practice. Please set aside the impulse to dress for style during training hours and instead choose comfort, neutrality, and simplicity.
A few specific requests:
  • Avoid loud or jangly jewelry, as it can be distracting to others during practice.
  • Keep your shirt on during all morning practices.
  • If your clothing is distracting (e.g., revealing, overly bright, or tight), you may be gently asked to change—please don’t take it personally. (Examples to avoid: low-cut tops, crop tops, neon dragon leggings, etc.)
Tip: Bali weather can shift from hot and humid to cool and breezy, especially during rainstorms. Dressing in layers is a good idea to stay comfortable throughout the day.

Thank you for your understanding and support in creating a focused and respectful practice space for everyone.

Morning Mouna (Conscious Silence)

From the time you wake up until 10:00 AM (after the breakfast break), we will be observing Mouna, or conscious silence.

Mouna means intentionally withdrawing from speech and external distractions in order to direct awareness inward. This practice helps prepare the mind for deeper states of yoga by reducing mental activity and encouraging inner stillness.

You are invited to choose the level of Mouna that feels right for you:

Level A:
  • No speaking
  • You may still read, write, and journal
Level B:
  • No speaking
  • No digital devices, journaling, or reading non-sacred texts
  • You may read sacred texts only
Level C:
  • Complete silence
  • No speaking, no devices, no journaling, no reading (including sacred texts)
  • Simply rest in stillness with yourself

The less we engage with external input, the more we attune to the subtle messages within. This silence supports the deepening of your inner awareness and lays the foundation for spiritual insight.

Please honor this practice each morning until our group reconvenes after breakfast. While it may feel unfamiliar at first, many participants find this to be one of the most powerful and peaceful parts of the training.
